Photo Release Terms and Conditions

As a public university, Governors State University (GSU) often uses photographic and electronic images of public campus life, events, ceremonies and other activities to advance the mission of the institution.

The images may appear in print/electronic publications, videos, marketing materials, and/or Internet sites associated with GSU. The images are not published for commercial purposes and do not violate the privacy of any individual or group.

All individuals appearing one-on-one in official university photos/video must complete a Photo Release Form. Subjects under 18 must have a Minor Photo Release Form completed by a parent or legal guardian.

If you are taking your own photos, without the assistance of the Office of Marketing and Communications, you can download the form below.

Original, signed photo release forms must be filed with the Office of Marketing and Communications prior to use of the associated image(s).

Photo Archive

In addition to the University’s Library’s archive of photos, Marketing also maintains an archive of university images. Most images are available electronically to faculty and staff at no charge.

Please contact the Marketing office with your specific photo request, being sure to include what type of project the images will be used for and date by which you need the files by. If appropriate, you may also include more specific information such as file type (JPEG, GIF, TIFF), the platform you will be using (PowerPoint, Photoshop, Word), and image resolution (dpi).

Marketing does not maintain a collection of clip art or stock images unrelated to the university.
