Master of Health Science in Addictions Studies (MHS)
The Master of Health Science in Addictions Studies degree program prepares leaders in addictions prevention and treatment. The curriculum emphasizes state-of-the-art, evidence-based approaches to addictions – giving our students the skills and background they need to meet the changing needs of clients and their communities.
Multicultural Perspective
The program has a strong underpinning in cultural understanding and sensitivity, giving graduates the ability to appreciate – and respond to – cultural and community influences on addictions and recovery.
Comprehensive Curriculum
The program is comprehensive. We take our students through pharmacology. We teach them prevention, counseling, and group techniques. We lay the foundations for research to practice. We integrate that knowledge into a thorough investigation of treatment programs, from planning to management.
Internships complete the program – and provide opportunities for students to concentrate their experiences.
Certification
The MHS program is fully accredited by IAODAPCA – and our graduates meet the education requirements for practice as certified addictions counselors. Qualified students may also take the criminal justice internship option to meet the requirements for the Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Professional (CCJP).
