Entrepreneurship - Take Charge of Your Future

Governors State now offers entrepreneurship classes designed for everyone. Whether you're currently running your own business, plan to start a business after graduation, or you're just curious about what it might take, GSU's entrepreneurship classes will provide you with the knowledge to succeed.

Degree Seeking Opportunities

Undergraduate students may pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Corporate Entrepreneurship.

Graduate students may opt for a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Corporate Entrepreneurship.

 

Undergraduate courses

ENTR310 Principles of Entrepreneurship (3)
Emphasizes what it takes to start a business by examining the differing forms of entrepreneurship and all aspects of the entrepreneurial process. Prerequisite: None

ENTR410 Entrepreneurial Opportunity (3)
Emphasizes the different methods of locating and/or creating entrepreneurial opportunities. Prerequisite: ENTR310 or with special permission of the instructor.

ENTR420 Entrepreneurial Accounting (3)
Emphasizes the financial measurements essential for monitoring and managing an entrepreneurial venture. This course is specifically tailored for entrepreneurs who are not likely accounting majors. Prerequisite: ENTR410, ACCT301, and ACCT302.

ENTR430 Entrepreneurial Ethics & the Law (3)
Emphasizes the legal challenges inherent in entrepreneurial ventures and suggest strategies for meeting those challenges without sacrificing business objectives. Prerequisite: ENTR410.

ENTR440 Entrepreneurial Finance (3)
Emphasizes the basic financial concepts and tools for financial decision making in entrepreneurial environments, with special focus on start-up ventures. Prerequisite: ENTR420 and FIN301.

ENTR450 Entrepreneurial Leadership (3)
Emphasizes the transformational strategies necessary to lead an entrepreneurial company. Prerequisite: ENTR410.

ENTR460 Entrepreneurial Marketing (3)
Emphasizes the marketing methods, tools, and tactics necessary for successfully building and launching a new business opportunity. Prerequisite: ENTR410 and MKTG301.

ENTR480 Entrepreneurial Project (3)
Capstone course for the Entrepreneurship concentration. May be used for an entrepreneurial internship, preparation for new venture creation, or preparation for acquisition of a franchise. Prerequisite: Completion of all other courses in the entrepreneurship concentration.

Graduate Courses

ENTR730 Principles of Corporate Entrepreneurship (3)
Emphasizes the tools needed to allow a manager to react flexibly, faster, aggressively and innovatively in order to maintain the competitive edge of an entrepreneur. Prerequisite: None.

ENTR810 Corporate Entrepreneurial Opportunity (3)
Emphasizes the different methods of locating and/or creating entrepreneurial opportunities. Prerequisite: ENTR730.

ENTR850 Corporate Entrepreneurial Leadership (3)
Emphasizes the transformational strategies necessary to lead an entrepreneurial company. Prerequisite: ENTR810.
