Television Courses/Library DVDs Reserve Policy

The University Library maintains several sets of DVDs for all of the television courses.  Usually, at least one set is on reserves for in-house viewing and four sets are available for one (1) week maximum per DVD checkout.  A valid GSU student identification card must be presented to check out a DVD or view one in-house.  Student identification cards are issued and updated each semester in the Office of Student Life (A-1120).

IN-HOUSE VIEWING:

Students wishing to view a DVD in-house should fill out a Reserve Transaction Slip with the call number for the course and the class number for the specific lesson in the series,  check off the 2 hr loan period,  and present the slip together with their updated student ID to the staff at the circulation desk.  Reserve Transaction Slips are available at the circulation desk and elsewhere in the Library.  Call numbers for the courses are listed on Current Telecourse Lists available at the circulation desk and can also be looked up in the GSU Library Catalog under the Course Reserves tab.

DVD's  are viewed in the library media room.  Use of earphones is required.

Only one DVD per student may be checked out for in-house viewing at a time.

7 DAY CHECKOUT:

Students wishing to check out a telecourse DVD for home viewing should fill out a Reserve Transaction Slip with the call number for the course and the class numbers for the specific lessons in the series,  check off the 7 day loan period,  and present the slip together with their updated student ID to the staff at the circulation desk.  Reserve Transaction Slips are available at the circulation desk and elsewhere in the Library.  Call numbers for the courses are listed on Current Telecourse Lists available at the circulation desk and can also be looked up in the GSU Library Catalog under the Course Reserves tab.

Circulating DVDs are checked out for a 7 day loan period.  Overdue fines of $5 per day per DVD will be charged. The student is responsible for full replacement costs for lost or damaged DVDs.  All borrowing privileges are suspended until DVDs are returned and/or fines paid,  but DVDs may still be viewed in-house pending payment.

If the library is closed but the University building is open,  DVDs may be returned in the Book Drop slot to the left of the entrance to the library,  but  DVDs must never be put in the outdoor book drops at entrances to the University as the weather can damage the DVDs.  A $25.00 fine plus a $10.00 processing fee is automatically assessed for each DVD returned to the outdoor book drops.

If DVD's are returned Undamaged you will be charged a late fee of $20.00 dollars per DVD; Plus a $10.00 dollars processing fee.

Telecourse DVDs may not be renewed.  Only one DVD per telecourse may be borrowed by a student at a time.
