  • Non-Traditional Student Week


    We recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of returning adult students at colleges and universities all over the U.S. during National Non-traditional Student Week, November 4 to 8, 2013. There are a host of events planned that are geared toward the adult learner. Student Life partners with the College of Arts and Sciences, the Interdisciplinary Studies Program and the Student Senate to collaborate on special events throughout the week.

    Enjoy warm beverages and treats, chat with friends and meet the new student senate members. Enter to win Chicago Bulls tickets.

    11/4…“Don’t Be Afraid…It’s Only Twitter,” 3 to 4 pm, D2430 (ACS LAB)
    An interactive workshop designed to conquer your fears about Twitter. Participants will learn about this social media outlet and ways that it can be integrated into your life.

    11/5…Utilizing LinkedIn and Social Media in your Job Search, 3 to 4:15 pm,
    This technology-enhanced workshop will focus on the use of, explore the site’s fundamental features and discuss how to incorporate the tool into your research and job search. Attendees will gain hands-on experience creating an account to use in their professional networking.

    HIV/AIDS Focus Group

    Student Life will collaborate with Phi Beta Sigma fraternity to bring HIV awareness  and education to the student population in the form of workshops and speakers.  The event will present programming during the Black History Month in February.

  • Secretary of State Mobile Services


    Governors State University students, faculty and staff, as well as surrounding community members, can renew their driver’s license or state ID card, purchase their annual vehicle license plate sticker, register to be an organ and tissue donor or conduct other transactions with the Secretary of State Mobile Services on campus. The Mobile Services Unit will be here on the following dates:

    August 25, 2015
    January 20, 2016
    May 17, 2016

    We are excited to welcome Secretary Jesse White to Governors State University.

    The Mobile Services Unit will provide services  from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Hall of Governors. Acceptable forms of payment include personal checks, cash, MasterCard, American Express and Discover credit and debit cards.
