Biography

Michael D. Hart


Michael Hart is a Senior Lecturer of Sculpture at Governors State University in University Park, IL. He received his Master of Fine Arts Degree in sculpture/dimensional studies with a concentration in glass from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Alfred, NY, his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in glass sculpture at Illinois State University, Normal, IL, and began his artistic pursuits at Kankakee Community College, Kankakee, IL. He grew up south of Chicago in Momence, IL and returned back after many years of bouncing around the country pursuing his arts career. His sculptural work is split between various stained glass and glass fusing work, and figure sculpture that is carved and/or cast in a variety of mediums including glass, wood, plaster, bronze and steel. He lives and maintains a studio practice in Momence, IL with his wife Melissa and 3 children.
