University Park, IL, October 31, 2008 – Beginning this academic year, students and faculty at Governors State University will have access to one of the business world’s most advanced and popular enterprise resource planning software packages. Participation in the SAP University Alliance will enable GSU to offer advanced training in this real world enterprise resource planning software.
“Acceptance in this alliance gives our students access to software used by most national and international corporations,” explains Dr. David Green, Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems. “They will gain hands-on familiarity and experience with this advanced software, which they will need in the workplace. It gives our graduates a competitive advantage.”
Green explained that use of the software package will be integrated in both graduate and undergraduate curricula and will be included in a variety of subject areas.
“This program will be used for class projects in business, computer science, health professions, management information, and accounting among others. Students will be able to integrate data into a common system with shared data bases just as they would in the real world.”
Membership in the SAP University Alliance is gained after application review and compliance with usage standards is assured.
“Familiarity with this system is in high demand in the workplace. It is difficult to use so we are very eager to offer our students the opportunity to gain familiarity before they enter the job market,” said Green.
