Tammy Rust, C.P.A.

University Park, August 2, 2004 - Governors State University announced today that Tammy Rust, a Certified Public Accountant and an MBA, has been appointed director of financial services and comptroller for the institution.
Rust brings extensive experience to the job, including a tour of duty at Governors State's former sister institution, Sangamon State (now University of Illinois, Springfield), where she was director of internal audits.
Rust was chief internal auditor and external assurance manager for the Illinois State Board of Education and, most recently, the comptroller and business manager for the Peoria Public Schools.
"I'm very excited to be back in a university environment," Rust said of her appointment. "There's a unique culture here that comes from the interdynamic among students, faculty, and staff. I truly enjoy it."
Rust will report to the university's Vice President of Administration and Planning John Tuohy. She succeeds Tom Stepke, former acting director of business operations, who retires in September.
