For Immediate Release
University Park, September 23, 2004 - Governors State University announced today that it will close its sequence in School Psychology as a direct result of the state’s cuts in funding for higher education.
Currently enrolled students will be given the opportunity to complete the program. The sequence’s accrediting body, The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), has indicated that accreditation will continue through 2006.
President Stuart Fagan said, “This was a painful but absolutely correct decision, given that we lack the resources to assure that we will be able to continue to meet our standards for academic quality. I appreciate the support of our Board of Trustees in coming to this difficult decision.”
