University Park, IL, March 4, 2009 – Governors State University will host the 2009 Illinois Community College Juried Art Exhibition, from March 11 through April 3, in the Visual Arts Gallery.
This exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the creative work of young artists and to get a glimpse of the extraordinary talent in our region. Selected works by art students currently enrolled in Illinois community colleges will be showcased. All students are allowed up to three entries. The juror selects work for this exhibition based on its artistic merit.
Exhibiting artists include students from Heartland Community College, Joliet Junior College, Kankakee Community College, McHenry College, Oakton Community College, Parkland Community College, Prairie State College, South Suburban College,
Triton College, and Waubonsee Community College.
A closing reception to celebrate the show and the artists and present merit awards is on Friday, April 3, from 1 to 3 p.m., in E-Lounge. Juror Jeremy Biles, of the Chicago Artists Coalition, will announce the award winners.
The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. Governors State University is located at 1 University Parkway, University Park. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call (708) 534-4017.
