University Park, September 7, 2005 - Governors State University will host a fair for home based demonstration businesses on Thursday, September 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The fair will take place in the Hall of Governors, on the university’s main campus, 1 University Parkway, University Park.
The event is sponsored by the GSU Civil Service Senate and open to the public. There is no cost for admission. Attendees should use university parking lots B or C.
"Most people are familiar with the concept of a Tupperware party," said Kathy Miller, president of the GSU Civil Service Senate. "We’ve expanded the concept to include many different types of demonstration vendors to create a unique event that nobody has done before." Among the demonstration companies expected to be represented are Home Interiors, Southern Living, and Party Light.
All proceeds from the event will go towards the Civil Service Scholarship Fund. The Civil Service Scholarship was established in 1984 to encourage GSU Civil Service employees, their spouses, and dependent children to further their education and to promote career advancement and self-improvement.
