Illinois State Senator Maggie Crotty to speak at Governors State University

University Park, October 12, 2005 – The GSU Masters in Public Administration Club will host a lecture by Illinois State Senator Maggie Crotty on Thursday, October 20, from 6:45 – 9:15 p.m. The lecture will be held in Engbretson Hall on the university’s main campus, 1 University Parkway, University Park, Illinois.

Senator Crotty is known for her support of several issues affecting the suburbs she represents, which include Oak Forest, Tinley Park, and Orland Park. She recently signed state senate bills that support protection for victims of domestic violence, service provisions for abandoned newborns, and expansion of autism programs.

The event at GSU coincides with several other town hall meetings that she is holding throughout the south suburbs. “It’s important to me to be available and accessible to the people I represent,” Senator Crotty said. “Hosting these meetings will provide a great opportunity for me to meet with constituents, to share what’s happening in State government, and to hear about the issues that are affecting our communities.”

The Masters in Public Administration Club hosts speakers throughout the year. Past presenters include State Senator Emil Jones, U.S. Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr., and John Stroger, president of the Cook County Board of Commissioners.

The event is open to the public and free of charge.
