GSU Announces Faculty Excellence Awards and Grants Tenure

University Park, October 25, 2006 – The Academy Awards are announced in the spring, the Heisman Trophy in the winter, and inductees into Baseball’s Hall of Fame in the summer. In the fall, Governors State University honors its educators with Faculty Excellence Awards.

These awards honor the hard work and dedication of professors who work tirelessly to educate, guide, and inspire their students. Recipients are chosen based on student evaluations and department director and dean recommendations. It is a welcome honor because it publicly acknowledges the good work and effective teaching which goes on in the classroom during the school year.

The 2006 Faculty Excellence Award Recipients from the College of Arts and Sciences:
Dr. Emmanuel Alozie of Park Forest, Associate Professor of Media Communications
Dr. Tim Gsell of Homewood, Associate Professor of Microbiology
Dr. Gary Lyon of Manteno, Assistant Professor of Chemistry Education
Cyrana Mott of Flossmoor, University Lecturer
Dr. Xuequing (Clare) Tang of Naperville, Assistant Professor of Computer Science
