University Park, Illinois, December 15, 2006 – Governors State University announced today that, after a national search, it will invite five candidates to its campus in January to interview for the presidency of the university. Current president Stuart Fagan announced several months ago that he will step down from the office on June 30, 2007.
The candidates are:
Daniel Julius, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Professor, College of Business, Benedictine University, Lyle, IL;
William J. Lowe, Provost and Vice President, Academic Affairs, and Professor of History, Metropolitan State University, St. Paul, MN;
Elaine P. Maimon, Chancellor, University of Alaska Anchorage;
Patricia Pierce Ramsey, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Bowie State University, Bowie, MD; and
Vinton Thompson, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Kean University, Union, NJ.
