University Park, IL, July 10, 2007 - The CenterPoint Entrepreneurship Center (CPEC) at Governors State University recently helped UBuildIt, a custom home building business in Mokena, Illinois, increase its marketing reach and, as a result, its sales. The growth was the result of $5000 the company received through the CPEC’s grant award program.
“I would like to thank CenterPoint for this opportunity - it worked,” said David Contorno, owner of the Mokena-based business. “We used the grant to finance additional marketing beyond what our budget allowed. As a result, we saw an increase in sales and hired two additional people within our organization.”
Contorno’s UBuildIt franchise is part of nationwide network that provides homeowners with complete control, prescreened suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors, and reduced pricing along with expert project management guidance throughout their home building or remodeling project. Clients have the ability to customize their own floor plans and build their dream home at significant cost savings, ranging from 20 to 30 percent below appraised value.
With financial support from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, the CPEC administers an ongoing matching grant award program. The program helps businesses with high-growth potential in obtaining professional services that will assist in the acquisition of capital, increase in revenue, or the attainment of other accelerated support services.
The CenterPoint Entrepreneurship Center is part of the Illinois Entrepreneurship Network, established by Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich to assist small businesses with high growth potential in increasing revenues and creating jobs.
