GSU Toastmasters Club presents a performance of August Wilson’s play “Gem of the Ocean,” Monday, Feb. 24 at the Center for Performing Arts. The performance begins at 6 p.m.
“Gem of the Ocean” is Wilson’s first installment in his ten-play chronicle, “The Pittsburgh Cycle.” The series dramatizes the African-American experience in the 20th Century. “Gem of the Ocean” is set in 1904 in Pittsburgh’s Hill District. Matriarch Aunt Ester Tyler helps a young man begin a spiritual awakening after an incident at a local mill throws the district into a riot.
Admission is $10.
