Degree Requirements

To earn a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies you must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Complete at least 120 semester credit-hours with a GPA of 2.0 (4.0 scale) or better.
  • Complete 40 semester hours of upper-division credit hours (junior/senior level).
  • Complete 24 semester hours of Governors State University course work with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.  These courses may be taken on-campus, from our distance learning offerings or from a combination.
  • Complete 6 credit hours of Interdisciplinary Studies requirements (effective Fall 2009).
  • Satisfy the University General Education requirement (click here). 
  • Complete at least one course that satisfies the University Writing Across the Curriculum requirement.
  • Satisfy the University requirement for online Orientation and Directed Self-Placement.
  • Satisfy the University requirement for technical competency.
  • Satisfactorily complete all courses and financial obligations to the university by the graduation processing date.
