Graduate Assistantships

CBPA hires graduate assistants each trimester on an as-needed basis. Applicants must be fully-admitted degree-seeking students in CBPA at GSU.

The graduate assistant will be hired to fill a specific position or to complete a specific project. He/she will receive compensation in the form of a tuition waiver and a stipend, in exchange for working 20 hours per week during the trimester. Graduate assistants are hired to fill positions in several areas; each of these positions requires specific skill sets. Applicants must complete the information requested on the Graduate Assistant Information Form; you may also attach a resume.

Academic Services, Dean's Special Projects, and Program Administration graduate assistants are hired for these positions based upon specific special needs of the college. In the past, graduate assistants in these positions have done research, performed statistical analyses, developed and maintained the college’s Website, and organized the SEI (Student Evaluation of Instruction) process.

Advising Office graduate assistants clarify information about degree program requirements; answer questions and provide assistance to students and prospective students of the college; other duties include general office work.

Dean’s Office graduate assistants work with the dean’s administrative assistant and other staff members on a variety of tasks related to the effective functioning of the dean’s office.

Selection Criteria for CBPA Graduate Assistantships

Selection criteria for graduate assistants are evidence of the type and level of skills needed for the assignment. Evidence may be provided through proof of prior course work or through a testing procedure.
