Conductive Education—Staffing

In the U.S. and Canada, centers tend to be staffed by Hungarian-trained conductors. The Center for Independence, in the Chicago area, uses a transdisciplinary model of CE with occupational and physical therapists working alongside conductor-teachers (Bourke-Taylor, O'Shea, Gaebler, 2007).

In other countries such as Australia, Sweden, Hong Kong, and Britain, staff may be conductor-teachers, teachers, and occupational, physical or speech therapists. Conductor-teachers may receive training at Aquinas College (Michigan, USA), University of Birmingham (UK), and at the Peto Institute (Hungary). In some countries, post- graduate courses are available to therapists and teachers.
