We're here to help make your e-learning experience smooth and successful. We realize everyone has a different level of computer literacy and comfort. So to make things as easy as possible for you, we've compiled all the necessary information, tips, and tools to help guide you through the e-learning experience.
Are You Ready for Online Learning?
If you have never taken an online course before, you will first need to prepare your computer. You'll find
hardware and software requirements listed on our Online Readiness Page:
In addition to computer requirements, you will also discover the personal characteristics, academic skills, and technical skills necessary to succeed in online learning.

Blackboard Student Tutorials
Online classes are taught at GSU using an Internet platform known as Blackboard. We encourage you to take these 2-3 minute (apiece) tutorials; they provide valuable information and guidelines for the online learner, including step-by-step procedures for utilizing Course Tools such as Discussions, Email, Assignments, and Exams.

Orientation Course
The GSU Student Orientation course allows you to experience Blackboard 9.1 and learn skills such as how to navigate Blackboard, post discussions, send an email, and take a quiz. Once you have completed the course, you will be prepared to participate fully in online courses.
All GSU students are automatically enrolled in the orientation course.
You should be able to see the Blackboard 9.1 Orientation Course after you login to your MYGSU portal. A link to the Orientation Course should be located under the list of your personal courses. Click the title of the Blackboard Orientation course, and you will arrive at the homepage.
