Prerequisites for Admission

An undergraduate degree is required for admission to the MOT program, though there is no requirement that the degree be in a specific major. A degree in psychology is perfectly acceptable; so is a degree in any of the liberal arts or sciences. But you do have to have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university before you will be eligible to apply. Also, you will have to have fulfilled certain prerequisites.

Prerequisites, in this case, include specific college coursework and a minimum GPA.

Prerequisite requirements for application to the MOT can be found in the current GSU Catalog under Special Admission Requirements.

NOTE: This program requires applicants to take the GRE and submit their scores with their application.

Why are Prerequisites Required?

Your investment in earning the Master of Occupational Therapy is significant, both financially and personally. We want you to succeed, and students who have completed the selected prerequisites for the MOT will be better prepared to enter and complete the program.

Prerequisites for the MOT include coursework in the sciences and the arts. (For complete details on prerequisites, go to Minimum Prerequisites for the Entry-Level MOT program.

Other prerequisites, such as minimum GPA, serve as indicators that you’ve mastered the required subject matter with enough proficiency to meet the program objectives and expected student outcomes.
