Tuition Waivers

The College of Health and Human Services is pleased to offer six Tuition Waivers for its graduate students every semester. Tuition Waivers pay for a student’s tuition for a single semester, up to the amount of in-state tuition rates. (Note: The waivers do NOT cover the cost of a student's fees.)

The College is committed to the success of each of its students and has created a College-wide Tuition Waiver Policy to ensure all students have a fair opportunity to apply for tuition waivers.

The current Tuition Waiver Policy distributes tuition waivers to six graduate students every semester, with preference given to Illinois residents. Three of the graduate tuition waivers are reserved for minority students.*

Waivers are awarded on a rotational basis among programs.

* The definition of “minority” is as follows: African-American, Native American, Hispanic or Underrepresented Asian (Chinese, Japanese or Korean are not underrepresented).

Graduate Waivers

There are six graduate tuition waivers awarded each semester.

The following graduate programs are eligible to award tuition waivers for the Summer 2013 Semester:

  • ADDS    (Addiction Studies)
  • CDIS     (Communication Disorders)
  • HLAD    (Health Administration)
  • NURS    (Nursing)
  • OCCT    (Occupational Therapy)
  • PHYT     (Physical Therapy)

How to Apply

Students interested in applying for Tuition Waivers must do so during a semester in which their program will be eligible to make the award. To apply, fill out a Tuition Waiver Application and return it to your program advisor. Each program will make its own decision regarding the award of its Tuition Waiver.
