Candidate Study Plan

 Click here  to download or view the BA Early Childhood Education Candidate Study Plan (revised Fall 2012).

Your Candidate Study Plan will be developed with an academic advisor prior to the conclusion of your first trimester of enrollment. Your advisor will explain your degree program and develop a plan that will lead to degree completion. The study plan will detail the current degree requirements for your major in effect at the time of your admission as a degree-seeking candidate. It will specify the amount of transfer credit applied toward the degree requirements; the total credit-hour requirement for the degree; required and elective courses; and the maximum number of credit-hours and/or courses that can be taken off campus and applied toward the degree.

All candidates are encouraged to contact the Division of Education academic advising office additional information.

The study plan must be reviewed and updated whenever a candidate:

  • applies for acceptance of transfer credit earned from another institution after enrollment at Governors State University;
  • wishes to substitute course work specified on the plan;
  • changes majors; or
  • is readmitted.

Candidates choosing to take courses not specified in their study plan may find that such credit may not apply toward the degree requirements. Please note that your candidate study plan may be subject to updates in response to changes in teacher certification requirements that occur from time to time.
