Fisk Mini-Grant for Technology in Education
The Fisk Mini-Grant for Technology in Education is awarded annually to support faculty in developing innovative instructional strategies for online, hybrid, and we-enhanced courses. Grant funds provide for the purchase of hardware and software required to implement specific teaching projects that demonstrate a clear and effective use of current and emerging technologies in teaching. Recipients are notified of their awards at the Faculty Summer Institute (FSI) and present their completed projects to their peers at the following year's Institute. The amount and number of awards given each year varies based on funding available. The grant announcement is made in March with an application deadline in early May.

The Fisk Mini Grant for Teaching with Technology is named in the honor of Gary Fisk, a professor who spearheaded efforts to harness technology to advance teaching throughout his career at Governors State University. Gary was instrumental in bringing e-learning to GSU and providing support to faculty as they learned to embrace and utilize this emerging technology. The Center for Online Teaching and Learning was established under his leadership. Gary passed away in the summer of 2010, but his legacy of effectively using technology to produce high-quality learning outcomes continues.
