Institutional Aid Programs

Governors State University awards a variety of merit-based scholarship and numerous tuition waivers and assistantships. These awards are based on a variety of factors including academic achievement, program of study, geographical location and financial need. Scholarships like grants are gift funds that do not need to be back. Scholarships are generally based on a variety of factors.

GSU Foundation and Alumni Association Scholarships

The GSU Foundation devotes great effort each year to raising funds for scholarships in order to recognize academic excellence and to assist deserving students continue their studies. Each spring the scholarship offerings for the year are determined from a large list of possible scholarships. These offerings vary from year to year based on available funds.

GSU Institutional Scholarships

University Tuition Waiver 

• This scholarship is merit-based and awarded by the academic department. All academic levels are eligible. Applications are available in the Dean's office of your college. The department/college will review the application of the students in their curricula and select scholarship recipients. The University Tuition Waiver covers tuition only.
