Satisfactory Academic Progress

Federal regulations require the Office of Financial Aid at Governors State University to monitor the academic progress of all students receiving financial aid toward the completion of their degree.

To maintain eligibility for federal and state financial assistance you must:

  1. Successfully complete 67 percent of classes attempted
  2. Earn a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (undergraduate) or 3.0 (graduate and doctoral)
  3. Not exceed the maximum credit hours allowed for your program.

Students who lose eligibility for financial aid must submit the SAP Appeal Form and a typed letter of appeal to the Office of Financial Aid Appeals Committee. For more detailed information refer to the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy in the 2011-2012 Financial Aid Guide.
