Submission Guidelines
Please submit your work electronically as a Microsoft Word attachment (.doc or .docx) by December 3, 2012 via e-mail to gendermatters@govst.edu. Submissions must include all specified information in order to be considered.
Confirmation of receipt will be sent within 48 hours – if you have not received such confirmation, please contact Jason Zingsheim by phone 708-235-7493 in case your e-mail did not arrive.
Individual Paper
Each paper submission must include:
- On the first page, please indicate: the title of your paper, author(s) name(s), and contact information (including organizational affiliation, phone and email).
- Indicate if this is a student-authored paper and any audio-visual needs.
- An extended abstract (500-750 words) and keywords.
- Individual papers will be grouped into panels with other papers on similar topics. Participants typically have 12-15 minutes to present their papers.
Paper Panel Proposals
Each proposal must include the following information:
- On the first page, please indicate: Panel title and Panel chair’s name & contact information (including affiliation, phone & email).
- Indicate if this is a student-authored panel and any audio-visual needs.
- A rationale (one to two paragraphs) explaining the motivation for the panel and keywords.
- Names & contact information of panelists (including affiliation, phone & email).
- One paragraph abstract for each panelist’s paper.
Round Table Discussion Proposal
Each proposal must include:
- On the first page, please indicate: Panel title and Discussion Leader’s name & contact information (including affiliation, phone & email).
- Indicate if this is a student panel and any audio-visual needs.
- Topic of discussion, and one-two paragraph rationale that explains the purpose of the discussion and keywords.
- A list of participants, their topics, brief qualifications, and contact information (including organizational affiliation, phone, and email).
Creative Format Proposals
Gender Matters welcomes submissions for creative presentation formats such as videos, individual or group performances. Each proposal must include:
- On the first page, please indicate: Panel title and Panel chair’s name & contact information (including affiliation, phone & email).
- Indicate if this is a student panel and any audio-visual needs.
- A two-three-paragraph rationale that explains the content and format of the panel and keywords.
- If relevant, a list of participants, their topic/role, brief qualifications, and contact information (including organizational affiliation, phone, and email).
