Women Making Meaning of HIV and AIDS in Economically Marginal African American Communities: Implications for Community Based Health Education
Abstract
Community-based focus groups, comprised of 5 to 8 African American adult women, will explore the knowledge, awareness and attitudes pertaining to the increased prevalence of HIV and AIDS in the African American community. Open-ended qualitative inquiry will explore the social constructs surrounding the topics of sex, HIV and AIDS to develop a model of prevention and education.
