Interlibrary loan (ILL) enables patrons to obtain materials not owned by the GSU Library. ILL privileges are for current students, faculty and staff only. Patrons must have a valid GSU Photo ID card and be entered in the GSU patron database before initiating a loan request. It is our policy to accept no more than 15 requests per day per individual.

Requesting Journal Articles
The Journal Article Request Form is to be used only when GSU does not own the journal you need, the date you want is missing and it is not available in full text. To make sure that the article is not full text, go to the Full Text Journals List. You will search by the Name of the Journal, not by the Article title. If GSU owns the journal, it will also be listed. Here is an example of what you might see:
in Governors State University Print Holdings
from 01/01/2001 to 07/01/2002 in ProQuest Research Library
from 01/01/2002 to 6 months ago in Academic Search Premier
from 07/01/1997 to 12/31/1999 in ProQuest Research Library
If the date you want is not listed and after checking the Governors State University Print Holdings you verify that we do not have the date you need, you may request the article. You can not request entire issues of journals.

Requesting Books
The Book Request Form is to be used when GSU does not own a book and it is not available through I-SHARE. If it is available through I-SHARE, you will request the book online. If it is not available through I-SHARE (no one owns the book or it is checked out at all libraries) you complete and submit the Book Request Form. Books cannot be ordered to fill textbook, reference or reserve requirements for coursework.
