SCHOLARSHIP IN MATHEMATICS EDUCATION
The ILLINOIS COUNCIL OF TEACHERS OF
MATHEMATICS will be presenting its twenty seventh annual Scholarships in
Mathematics Education in October of 2016 at the annual ICTM meeting in Peoria.
There will a minimum of two (2) and a maximum of five (5) awards granted of
$1,500 to help defray educational expenses of the recipients.
To be eligible, a student
Be enrolled in an accredited
university or college in Illinois during Spring2016.
Have junior or senior status as of
Spring 2016 with graduation during May 2016 or later and must be
working on his/her first bachelor's degree.
Be a mathematics education major, mathematics
major with an education minor, or an education major with an official
Have a total overall GPA of at least
3.00 (4.00scale) from all colleges attended.
Submit the following:
A completed ICTM scholarship
Transcripts from ALL COLLEGES ATTENDED.
These may be official or unofficial copies.
Letters of recommendation from
two (2) mathematics teachers, high school or college. These letters
must state the capacity in which the writer knew the applicant and address
his/her potential as a mathematics teacher.
Two2 00-300 word essays as described
in the application
A completed lesson planning
some verification of the
above designated status and major(e.g. letter from your advisor, copy of
registration materials, etc.).

The completed application
forms must be-mailed or postmarked no later than March 6, 2016. The
recipients of the scholarship awards will be announced in June 2016 and awarded
at the October 7, 2016 ICTM Conference reception in Peoria.
