What to Expect at your Writing Center Appointment

GSU Regional Online Writing Center

You may send your paper on-line for revision suggestions or ask a general question about a writing assignment and a Writing Center Consultant will respond to your submission/question within 24 hours, 7 days a week! The Writing Consultant will address the top three errors in the paper and send it back for your to revise.  If needed, you can continue to send the paper in for further revision until all errors have been addressed in the paper.

Virtual Appointments

A virtual appointment is a hybrid between an on-site appointment and an online review of student papers. Students who are unable to travel to campus are now able to have access to writing help at all stages of the writing process by scheduling a virtual appointment.

If the appointment is for a paper review, students are asked to email their paper to gsgrowl@govst.edu, with the words "Virtual Appointment" entered in the subject line of the e-mail submission before the time of their appointment.

At the appointed time, a Writing Consultant will call the student, and the student and consultant will discuss the student's concerns with his or her writing assignment.  In addition, the Writing Consultant will review the student's paper over the phone with the student and provide revision suggestions based on the student's individual patterns of error.

If you are a GSU Student, you can schedule a virtual appointment by calling 708.235.7337.

Please specify that you are scheduling a Virtual Appointment and be prepared to provide a phone number where you can be reached at the appointed time.
