The Writing Center can help. From one-on-one appointments or online revision suggestions to review your paper to answering questions about grammar, the Writing Center can meet your needs.

  • One-on-One Appoints with a Writing Consultant

    Do you struggle with writing? Do you earn a C on your papers, but want an A? The writing center can help with a one-on-one appointment.

     What to Expect at your Writing Center Appointment

  • GSU Regional Online Writing Center

    +

    You may send your paper on-line for revision suggestions or just ask a question about writing. A writing center consultant will respond within 24 hours, 7 days a week. A writing consultant will suggest revisions for the top two or three problems with your paper and send it back to you to revise. You can make the changes and send the paper back again if you want. 

    Give us the necessary information and email your paper as an attachment to gsgrowl@govst.edu.

  • Virtual Appointments

    +

    • A virtual appointment combines an on-site appointment and an online review. Students who can’t travel to campus may have intensive writing help using a phone and the internet.
        
    • Call (708) 235-7337 to schedule a virtual appointment. Let us know that you want a Virtual Appointment and be prepared to provide a phone number where you can be reached at the appointed time.
       
    •  E-mail your paper as an attachment to gsgrowl@govst.edu with the words Virtual Appointment in the subject line at least two hours before the appointment.
       
    •  A writing consultant will call you at the appointed time for a 45 minute session.
       
    •  The student and the consultant will go over the paper to make revisions.

     

  • Tutors in the Library

    A consultant at the writing center desk in the library answers student questions about writing. 

     Monday–Thursday, 3:30 until 7:30 p.m.

     Saturday:  11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

  • Workshops

    +

    Each semester, the Writing Center offers a research paper workshop series with one hour sessions each week for five weeks. These free workshops take you through the stages of writing of writing an A.P.A.  research paper. In addition, we also offer workshops on writing successful graduate school and scholarship essays and another about writing discussion posts and reflective responses. These workshops are typically held in the Academic Resource Center B1215; just ask at the desk for the specific room.
