Jassac Charitable Foundation Scholarship Honoring Lorine S. Samuels
The Jassac Charitable Foundation primary purpose is to support programs in the Southland area of Chicago, Illinois that enhance cultural, educational and economical needs of the community, enrich the lives of youth through mentoring and tutoring programs and promote community awareness on mental and physical health concerns. The organization began as a committee’s responsible for selecting locations to recommend to the Joliet Area South Suburban Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. to house community programs and projects.
The Jassac Charitable Foundation Scholarship was established to honor fellow Delta Sigma Theta Sorority sister, Lorine S. Samuels.

Eligibility:
- Undergraduate degree-seeking students
- Minimum current cumulative GPA or 2.75 from GSU or most recent school
- Must be an African American student enrolled (or enrolling) in a minimum of six credit hours
Not eligible:
- Community Honors Scholars
- Employees of the University, excluding students receiving financial aid or state funds
Documents Required:
- Applicants must submit an essay (500 words) outlining your career aspirations.
Award Information:
Two 500 dollar Follett Gift Cards.
Note: Award amounts may vary based on funding, availability, and addition, if any, to principal. Amount awarded shall not exceed tuition costs.
