
Mentoring services for the 2019-2020 school year will begin
mid-September 2019 through May 2020.
2019-2020 New
Leaders Mentor Program
Designed to provide a system of
support to first and second year building leaders. (Principals, Directors, Coordinators, Deans,
Instructional Coaches etc.) Each new
leader will be matched with an experienced administrator as their Mentor. The
Mentor will work closely with the new leader to help promote success.
Mentors will meet with their Protégés in
their district or an agreed location for a minimum of 50 hours throughout the
school year.
Mentor/Protégé Teams
will also meet monthly at Governors State University for discussions and
presentations on topics relevant to their practice. Some of the topics for the new school year
include:
- Practical Tips for Administrators
- Developing
Positive Relationships
- Instructional
Leaders and Community Engagement
- Preparing
for Difficult Conversations
- A
Framework for Understanding Poverty
- ACES
and Trauma Sensitive Schools
- Building Bridges for at Risk Students - AAC#1115
2019-2020 Emerging
Leaders Program
This program is designed for teacher
leaders who want to perfect their leadership skills and are considering
becoming a formal school leader.
Emerging Leaders will participate in 4 seminars throughout the school
year to enhance their effectiveness as an informal school leader. The seminars will be scheduled after school
year and will occur at Governors State University. Some of the topics that will be explored
include:
- Developing
Your Personal Leadership Style
- How
to Develop Positive Relationships with Staff, Students and Parents
- Effective
Leadership and Coaching – Skills for Success
- Information
about GSU’s Principal Leadership Program
Administrative Assistants Seminar-A two session seminar will assist frontline staff in recognizing their own needs, the expectations of their customer, and how they should work positively towards their district/school's commitment to improve customer relations.
Sessions will include:
- Providing quality service
- Proficiency communications
- Developing positive relationships
- Work ethics and professionalism

unlimited New and/or Emerging Leaders)
2019-2020 New Leaders Fee $2,200.00 per person
2019-2020 Emerging Leaders Fee $600.00 per person
