For the Spring 2016 semester, the Writing Center will present workshops to help you polish up your graduate admission essay, write your discussion board posts, and learn to work through any stage of the writing process. We are presenting a workshop series, "The APA Research Paper" which will break down the process of writing an APA style research paper.

Each workshop will be presented in the Student Success Commons, B1216.
There is no pre-registration required. Just ask the receptionist for the specific room number. Below, you will find session descriptions, as well as date and time. Please call the Writing Center at (708) 235-7337 with any questions.

  • Finding Your Focus

    +

Finding exactly what you want to write about and understanding why you want to write about are both important. Putting that information into writing is a key part of a successful piece of writing. In this session, we will discuss arriving at and writing a focus statement.

  • Supporting Your Ideas

    +

Giving your reader enough information to understand and believe what you are saying is very important. This workshop will discuss the elements of successful writing: giving definitions of specialized language, providing examples that make a point, and perhaps even relying on outside sources to support your work.

  • Style and Mechanics

    +
