Official transcripts are issued by the Office of the Registrar. We accept online, mail-in or in-person requests. We cannot accept telephone, fax or email requests. Transcript requests are generally processed within three to five business days. Online requests can be made to the National Student Clearinghouse.

Official transcripts are $10 each, plus applicable fees. If you have a financial obligation with the University, we will not be able to fulfill your request. If you suspect that this is the case, please contact the Cashier's Office at 708.534.4055 before you submit a transcript request.

Official transcripts can be ordered through one of the following ways:

  • Online Ordering/Electronic Transcripts

    As a current or former student, you can submit your transcript request through the National Student Clearinghouse, our online ordering system. A major credit card is required to process your request. Official transcripts are $10.00 per transcript, plus a $2.25 processing fee per order. For electronic transcript delivery, an additional $1.00 fee is charged per order. The amount will be charged to your credit card only after your order has been completed.

    An email or text will be sent on the status of your request, from receipt of the order to a notice when the order has been completed. If there is a problem in processing your request, you are notified by email or phone.

    4. A signed Consent Release Form is required to complete your order.

    • 24/7 access. You may submit your request from any computer connected to the Internet anywhere in the world.
    • Status updates. Receive an email or text update on the status of your request, from receipt of the order to a notice when the order has been completed. If there is a problem in processing your request, you are notified by email and/or by phone.
    • Precise addressing. Typing the address online will alleviate the need for our staff to read a hand-written address. It provides the correct address for delivery of your transcript.

      Can I send an electronic transcript to a school or business?

      Yes. Both the name and email of the recipient are required to be provided on the requested form. The recipient will need Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash in order to view and download the official electronic transcript.


      Can I send an electronic transcript to myself?

      Yes, however, you will need Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash in order to view and download the official electronic transcript.


      How are electronic transcripts delivered?

      Recipients receive an email with a link a website where the electronic transcript is stored. A separate email with the password will be sent to the recipient. The recipient has 30 days to access the electronic transcript.


      Will I be informed when the transcript is sent?

      Yes, you will be informed by email when the transcript has been sent and when the recipient has opened the transcript. You may also receive text alerts if you sign-up for that feature. Standard text rates apply.

      How long does it take to send an electronic transcript?

      If there are no holds preventing a transcript to be released, transcripts are sent within 24 hours.


      How much does it cost to send an electronic transcript?

      $13.25 total: $10 for the official transcript, $2.25 for online ordering and $1.00 for electronic delivery.


      What if I mistyped the email address for the recipient?

      Please order a new electronic transcript online and contact the Registrar’s Office at Governors State University: transcripts@govst.eduor 708.534.4500 with the order number of request that needs to be cancelled.


      When will my credit card be charged?

      Your credit card will be charged at the time of delivery.


      Why can’t I order an electronic transcript?
      Electronic transcripts are available for students/alumni/graduates who attended after 1990, when GSU starting maintaining records electronically. Paper transcripts are available to students who attended GSU prior to 1990.

    2. Unofficial Transcripts

      An unofficial transcript is available in the My GSU student portal under Online Services/Registration.

      Alumni and former students can obtain unofficial transcripts in person only from the Office of the Registrar.
