Calling all GovState military-connected community members!
If you are a student, staff, or faculty veteran or active-duty service member of GovState, we would like to recognize you the week of November 11, in a poster art installation in the Hall of Governors.
We welcome military-connected students who would like to honor a special veteran in their family to participate as well.
To participate, please send the following to us at veterans@govst.edu by Friday, November 1st:
Small bio, up to 100 words. It should include some or all the following:
- Branch of service.
- Time in service/accomplishments.
- Position at GovState. If you are a student- Time/degree at GovState and what you plan to do in the future.
- Do you participate in any specific engagements with veterans on/off campus?
- Do you have any advice for student veterans and military connected students?
- Two photos of you- one from your time in service, and one of you now.
- A signed copy of the photo-release form (https://www.govst.edu/uploadedFiles/About/Offices_and_Departments/University_Marketing_and_Communications/Downloadables/PhotoRelease-form.pdf)
If it is to honor a family member:
- What is your relationship to the veteran? Why are they important to you?
- The veteran’s Branch of Service.
- Time in service/accomplishments.
- Your position at GovState. If you are a student- Time/degree at GovState and what you plan to do?
- Do you participate in any specific engagements with veterans on/off campus?
- Two photos (now can be a picture of yourself with the veteran or just veteran)

goal of our SVA Chapter is to use our combined skillsets to advocate for our
student veteran community. Our chapter will instill a new purpose while in
higher education. We want to empower military-connected students by fostering camaraderie that reflects
our shared experiences through all branches of service. Our pledge is to lead
the way for future success in our students through integrity, honor, and
commitment.
