Don’t miss an electrifying evening of rhythm, innovation, and live music with Chicago Tap Theatre!

As The Center celebrates 30 years of presenting bold performance, Chicago Tap Theatre marks its own milestone — 23 years as one of the nation’s most inventive tap companies.

ACT I: Highlights from The Countdown

A 23rd Anniversary Celebration

In honor of their 23rd year, Chicago Tap Theatre takes a deep dive into the numbers “2” and “3” and their mysterious power. From duality (what happens when one of the worst songs and best songs ever written collide?) to numerological divination (can tap dance tell you the future?), The Countdown transforms rhythm and pattern into playful, thought-provoking new choreography. Featuring brand-new works by tap titans Molly Smith, Sterling Harris, Mark Yonally, and more, this first act reflects the company’s newest artistic ideas — inventive, witty, and musically daring.

ACT II: Unleash the Beats

The second act delivers the high-energy audience favorites that have defined Chicago Tap Theatre’s 23-year legacy. Expect virtuosic footwork, dynamic ensemble precision, and tap classics inspired by legends such as Buster Brown, Eddie Brown, and Bill Evans — along with iconic standards like the BS Chorus and the Shim Sham.

Backed by live musicians (piano/keyboard, bass, and drums), creating a lush, jazz-infused soundscape where dancers and musicians trade rhythms in real time.
