Get ready to kick back, relax, and groove under the open sky at Groovin’ at GovState, our brand-new, free summer concert series! Experience a dynamic lineup of live music on the scenic prairie of Governors State University, surrounded by the stunning sculptures of theNate.
Free admission. No reservations necessary. Concerts start promptly at 6 PM and last approximately 90 minutes.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair and claim your spot on the grass!
Food trucks and beverages available for purchase onsite.
Indoor restrooms located in the Center for Performing Arts lobby.
Directions:
Park in West Lot 1 or East Lot 1, enter through the main
entrance, walk through the Hall of Governors, exit through the patio doors, and
find your spot on the grass, over looking the performance area in front of the
lake.

Jazz & BluesAfter describing her brilliant voice as a perfect mix of Nancy, Sassy, and Lady Day, it came only naturally that the late legendary jazz trumpeter Clark Terry would, at New York’s historical Flushing Town Hall, select Denise Thimes as that night’s featured vocalist.
This truly unique and inspirational artist is often asked by fellow noteworthy musicians “why haven’t we heard of you”? Not to worry. With a voice as noticeably (as Terry puts it) “ranks with all of the greats,” it won’t be long.

Although their look and sound is a throwback, Rosie & The Rivets perform a fresh and fun setlist of hugely popular classic songs from the mid 1960's to early 2000's that appeal to multigenerational audiences.
