Convocation 2024
Join fellow GovState Jaguars to kick off the fall semester at Convocation 2024! This event takes place on Thursday, September 5 at 1 p.m. in The Center for Performing Arts. All students are welcome to attend, first year undergraduate students are strongly encouraged to participate in this tradition to mark the beginning of their academic career at Governors State University.

Freshman who attend the Student Convocation Ceremony will receive the cords they will wear when they graduate from Governors State University.

Convocation is a ceremony to welcome students to the start of the academic year. Many courses during this time period will be released to attend this official ceremony of the University. Please note that this event is for students only.
The Welcome Back Celebration will follow the Student Convocation Ceremony.

GovState Ice Cream Social
Immediately following the Convocation ceremony, there will be an Ice Cream Social hosted by GovState.
