EXPERTISE
Community Mental Health
FACULTY PROFILE
"I completed a bachelors of science in psychology and a masters in social work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I started my career in social services in 1998. My primary specialization in social work practice is clinical community mental health. Before becoming a full time lecturer at GSU, I worked as a case manager, therapist, program manager and clinical supervisor. I continue to provide therapy in private practice and clinical supervision by contract.
My first contact with the Social Work Department was as a field instructor. I was awarded Field Instructor of the Year for the MSW program in 2013. Soon after I started as an adjunct instructor and a field liaison, moved to the BSW Field Placement Coordinator and finally today as the Director of Field Education.
My primary motivator in my position is the opportunity I have to assist social work students in bridging their passion to serve to practicum placements in community settings and starting a career as a professional social worker!"
