FACULTY PROFILE

I have dual roles at Governors State University; my primary role is as a teacher at GSU's Family Development Center, and my secondary role is as an adjunct instructor for the College of Education & Human Development.

During my 25-year career, I have had the privilege to teach students of all ages in private and public settings. After graduating from Elmhurst University, I was a special education teacher in a private school for 11 years. Since 2012, I have been a pre-k teacher at GSU’s Family Development Center. Currently, I have an IL Professional Teaching License with endorsements in Learning Behavior Specialist, Early Childhood Education, and English As A Second Language. I received my MA. in Multi-Categorical Special Education from Governors State University in 2008 and my B.A. in Special Education from Elmhurst University in 2001.

My journey as an adjunct faculty member at GSU began in 2019. Since then, I have taught a range of courses, including EDUC 2310, EDEC 3410/7410, EDEC 4470, and EDUC 4595. My continued engagement with younger students in the classroom allows me to offer my college students a unique perspective. I bring a real-life view of current classroom climates in the professional field of education, which I believe is of significant value. My growing passion is inspiring and mentoring new teacher candidates to elevate the quality of educators entering the teaching profession.
