FACULTY PROFILE

Biography

Richard Evans was born on the south side of Chicago. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University in 1986, a Master's in Business Administration in 1999, a Master of Science in Management Information Systems in 2006, a Master of Science in Computer Science in 2014, and a Doctorate in Business Administration in Management in June 2022. Currently, Dr. Evans serves as a member of the Board of Directors of a nonprofit organization called AgeOptions.

Early Career

Dr. Richard’s professional computer career started in 1984. He worked as a Computer Programmer for the Methodist Church and several other nonprofit organizations before working as a computer consultant for several organizations. He was hired as a Computer programmer for South Suburban College in February of 1991. Richard worked for organizations such as Ace Hardware, the law firm of McDermott, Will, & Emery, and Morningstar. Richard returned to South Suburban College to become the Manager of Computer Programming and Operations.

His passion for teaching can be traced back to my days as an adjunct instructor at South Suburban College in August 1993. Mr. Evans became a full-time community college instructor for the Business Programs Department in August 2006. Aside from being a full-time Instructor, Richard Evans was Business Program Department Chair from 2010-2014. Richard was hired as an adjunct instructor for the College of Business at Governors State University in August 2012. At Governors State, He has taught Computer/Information System courses at the undergrad and graduate level.
