Facilities Development and Management takes pride in the services that it provides in order to maintain the campus buildings and grounds.

FDM provides a wide range of services including custodial, grounds up-keep, preventative maintenance and building maintenance. It is FDM's responsibility to provide not only an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere but also a safe and healthy environment that is conducive for teaching and learning.


Custodial

 

Building Service Workers perform custodial duties required in the routine cleaning and upkeep of the campus facilities. They are responsible for cleaning approximately 600,000 square feet of campus space including classrooms, offices, restrooms and other public areas.

Building Service Workers us a variety of green cleaning products such as:

-Toilet Paper-Ecologo Certified, 100% Recycled Fibers, 20% Post-Consumer
-Paper Towels - Green Seal Certified
-Microfiber Rags
-Hand Soap - Green Seal Certified Foam Soap
-Launder dust mops and wet floor mops
-Use a Hydrogen Peroxide cleaner in dilution system

If you have any questions or concerns regarding insects and/or rodents in your area please contact the Facilities Office at ext. 4515 by Tuesday of each week. This will allow the pest control specialist to address the problem on Wednesdays when he is on campus.

Grounds Maintenance & Building Services

The Governors State University campus consists of 748 acres. Some of the laborers' duties include mowing, trimming, weeding, trash pick-up, snow removal, room set-ups and furniture moves while assisting the other trades.

Building Maintenance

Building maintenance includes the maintenance of various specialized equipment and building systems by trades such as Electricians, Operating Engineers and Maintenance Repair Workers. The building maintenance crews are responsible for the inspection and diagnosis of problems to determine the most efficient and cost effective way to correct the issue. They also perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that the building systems are operating efficiently.
