The Governors State University's long-term
disability (LTD) insurance plans are available to employees who are eligible to
receive benefits and who are participating in the State Universities Retirement
System (SURS). Full-time and part-time employees participating in SURS
automatically receive LTD insurance through the retirement system. For further

Employees participating in SURS may also apply
for supplemental, voluntary LTD insurance through the University plan. Payment
for the voluntary plan is made through payroll deduction. Employees who are
eligible to participate in the program are status employees who participate in
the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) and have a full-time
appointment of at least 50% or a temporary appointment of 50% or more for at
least nine months.
