STEM Waitlist FAQs

As a student who has been placed on our admissions waitlist, you may have questions about what this means. Please review the answers to our most frequently asked questions below.

Please note: We do not have an appeal process of any kind, and we cannot reconsider your application. If we can offer you a space at GovState, you will receive an email notification alerting you to log in to your GovState application portal.

Thank you for your patience and, regardless of the outcome of your application at GovState, we wish you the best with your education.

Why was I not offered admission?

The program you applied for has a limited capacity. Unfortunately, even though students may be competitive for admission based on their academic records and their test scores, we are only able to admit a fraction of qualified students given the space we have available in our classes at GovState.

Can I appeal my admission decision?

We do not have an appeal process for waitlisted applicants. If we are not able to offer you admission, you may be able to defer your application or re-apply for admission for the next applicable term. We cannot evaluate any new credentials or materials at this time.

Is the waitlist ranked?

We do not have an appeal process for waitlisted applicants. If we are not able to offer you admission, you may be able to defer your application or re-apply for admission for the next applicable term. We cannot evaluate any new credentials or materials at this time.

When will I know if I am admitted off of the waitlist?

Please note that we may not have any indication about available space until after the application deadline. We continuously monitor our capacity and will admit any additional students from the waitlist if and when space becomes available. We will communicate with you about your status on the waitlist no later than August 1 for the Fall 2024 semester.

Is there anything I can do to improve my chances of being offered admission from the waitlist?

Since we do not rank-order our waitlist, there is nothing you can do to improve your chances of being offered admission to this program. If you would like to defer your application to a future term or apply to another program of study, please complete the Program Capacity Verification Form in your application portal.

If I am offered admission, can I defer my enrollment?

Students who choose to defer are not guaranteed admission into their selected intake term. Deferred applications are returned to the admissions processing queue for new review and decision.

Can I be considered for another program at GovState?

Yes, students may indicate that they are now interested in being considered for admission to another program by completing the Program Capacity Verification Form in your application portal. Please note that some programs may require additional application materials.
