Part 61 Aviation Pilot Training Refund Policy

This policy outlines the refund procedures for Part 61 Aviation Pilot Training courses offered by the Governors State University School of Extended Learning in partnership with D14 Aviation.

  • Ground School Courses (Individually Paid): If paying for individual ground school courses, a full (100%) refund will be issued if written notice of withdrawal is received five (5) or more business days before the start of the ground school course. No refunds will be issued for no-shows.
  • Programs Paid Through Lump-Sum Loans: If a lump-sum loan is applied to the Aviation Pilot Training Program that includes ground school sources and flight time, $8,500 will be deducted per month, beginning the month of the first ground school course, regardless of attendance. To avoid charges for the following month, students must submit written notice of withdrawal at least 15 days prior to the start of the next month. Any remaining balance will be refunded, minus a 10% administrative fee.
  • No-Show Policy: Students who fail to attend scheduled training sessions without prior notice are considered no-shows. No refunds will be issued for no-shows.
  • Refund Request Procedure: All refund requests must be submitted in writing via email to continuinged@govst.edu. Please include "Refund Request" in the subject line of the email.
