    DDP Community Service 
    Sunday, March 27, 2022: 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 
    The Dual Degree Program coordinates community service activities to raise awareness of each other's communities, and learn from each other's experiences. This February,we'd like to have as many DDP volunteers as we can get!  All DDP students from all campuses are welcome to volunteer.

    DDP Induction (Spring Option)
    Friday, April 8th, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
    Governors State University, Engbretson Hall & E-Lounge
    For DDP students who are still pursuing an associate degree at their local community college, and have not yet attended a past Induction.  Participants will receive an orientation to the Dual Degree Program, and opportunity to meet GSU administration and staff, and receive helpful resources in preparation for your transfer.

    DDP Graduation Cording Ceremony
    Tuesday, May 10, 2022, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
    DDP students graduating with their bachelor's degrees from GSU during the 2021-2022 academic year will be honored in a formal cording ceremony, to acknowledge the completion of their Dual degrees. Formal invitations will be mailed in early April 2022. 

  • DDP Induction


    During the DDP Induction, newly enrolled DDP students have the opportunity to obtain additional information on the benefits of the Dual Degree Program. Students and their guests also have the opportunity to meet the GSU President, Provost, and faculty and program advisors. You will also have the chance to tour the campus, hear from other transfer students attending GSU, participate in fun activities with other DDP students, and you will be officially inducted into the Dual Degree Program!   • DDP Graduation Cording Ceremonies


    Students who transferred to GSU in the spring and fall semesters are honored with a cord representing the community college where they recently graduated with their associate degree. In the company of several partnering college Presidents and GSU administration, students are corded by their respective DDP Transfer Specialists while proudly displaying their new DDP “One Degree Down!” t-shirts.

    Once DDP students graduate from GSU they are honored at the Dual Degree Program Cording Ceremony. During this ceremony, they receive a black and white cord braided along with the color of their community college, representing the attainment of both Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree.

  • DDP Monthly Community Service


    Each month the Dual Degree Program coordinates a community service event with the help of its Student Transition Assistants. This is a perfect opportunity for students to become active members of their community, which has a lasting positive impact on society at large. Community service gives our DDP students the life skills and knowledge, as well as provides a service to those who need it most.

    Scholarship Symposium
    The Dual Degree Program hosts an annual “DDP “Get Money: Scholarship Symposium,” during the fall semester. Due to the current global pandemic, the symposium has and may continue to be held virtually.  The week-long event has various virtual live online presentations, recorded sessions, and additional materials to help you graduate with as little academic debt as possible.   Our Scholarship Symposium topics may include:

    •  Mastering the Scholarship Application Process

    The Dual Degree Program hosts an annual “DDP Get Jobs: Career Symposium,” during the spring semester. Due to the current global pandemic, the symposium has and may continue to be held virtually. The week-long event has various virtual live online Session presentations, recordings, and additional materials to assist you in your short and long-term career goals.  The Career Symposiums topics may include:  

    •  To Grad School, or Not to Grad School?
    •  What Can I Do with My Degree?
    •  Writing a Resume and Cover Letter
    •  Intro to Career Services @ GSU
    •  Overcoming Imposter Syndrome
    •  Know the Code: Myers Briggs Type Indicator Workshop
    •  Interview Preparation, Best Practices, and Mock Interviews



    DDP Symposiums are perfect opportunities for students to obtain the tools they need to be successful in their pursuits of various forms of financial aid, and next step career planning. Keep an eye out in future emails for more  information!


  • DDP Socials and Other Events


    The Dual Degree Program Hosts Welcome Back Socials where DDP students come from all DDP partnership campuses. During this event we discuss summer adventures, play board games and enjoy time well spent with each other. We also have raffles and give out DDP SWAG! Please stay on the lookout for DDP Socials and other events via your school email addresses or reach out to your DDP Transfer Specialist for more information.
