Jackie McKethen Scholarship For LGBTQIA Students

 

The Jackie McKethen Scholarship For LGBTQIA Students is the creation of Jackie McKethen to support students that are part of the LGBTQIA community or have shown substantial support for the community.

Eligibility:

  1. Must be a student attending Governors State University and enrolled (or enrolling) in a minimum of 6 credit hours
  2. In choosing recipients for the scholarship, assuming candidates of equal qualification, there shall be a strong consideration, but not an absolute preference for members of the LGBTQIA community or LGBTQIA allies.
  3. GPA will be considered if needed to choose between equally qualified applicants.

Documents Required:

  1. 500 word essay showing commitment to the LGBTQIA community.
  2. Must have shown significant assistance and acceptability toward the community (as evidenced by two letters of recommendation/ reference attesting to participation) or have the recommendation of a member of the LGBTQIA Student Group.

Award Information:

One award of 500 dollars.

Note: Award amounts may vary based on funding, availability, and addition, if any, to principal. Amount awarded shall not exceed tuition costs.
