"As a recipient of the 21st Century Community Learning Center
grant, District 215 in Lansing, IL puts its emphasis on training. We did the
research and developed a plan to train parents and children in the subjects
they most needed such as Writing and Communication Skills and more.
Thornton Fractional District 215 is underserved and is
classified as a Title One School. It was clear that we needed an
exceptional training source. Governors State University School of
Extended Learning provided us with the one-on-one experience, knowledgeable
back-up, and excellent follow-through that we needed for the classes to satisfy
the requirements of our grant.
We are really happy with the kind of training GSU School of
Extended Learning provides. We wanted the best for our families and they provided that
experience for us. They suggested the right topics as well as
were available for questions from us and our parents."

According
to National Tube Supply Company's COO, Brian Kluge, “I
wanted a program where we could not only teach basic leadership skills
but also
engage the employees to provide more of a one-on-one experience. Our
Director of Human Resources, Kraig Kistinger, immediately suggested we
utilize a local resource and contacted Governors State
University School of Extended Learning. From our initial meeting with
Felicia Townsend, GSU’s Director of Corporate and Community Education,
we knew
we selected the right business partner to develop and deliver customized
supervisor training.
According to Kraig, "Not only did GSU take our
suggested competency topics into consideration but they brought
the individual instructors on-site for a planning session to walk through the
course content and develop a multi-visit program that was not only educational
and engaging, but very specific to our organization. I think our
employees were a little surprised at how GSU made the topics and work sessions
so applicable,” said Brian, “reactions have been extremely positive.”

"Our
front line supervision has always had a significant amount of expertise in the
hands-on construction of Mobile Medical trailers. The next step in
their development was a real need for formal classroom training in order to
assist in the successful execution of a Daily Build Plan. Governor’s
State University was able to tailor my description of those needs into 4
distinct and very effective training modules held on site at our facility in
the month of June.
Each
instructor engaged our group in specific training topics, which included Managing
Daily Workflows, Data Visualization and Problem Solving, Effective
Business Communication and Email Management and Navigation. It
was a very fulfilling experience for our supervisors and more importantly gave
them new skill sets that have had an immediate impact on their
performance.
The
coordination of this training program by Felicia Townsend at the School of
Extended Learning was well done and the outcome has exceeded my
expectations. I strongly recommend this process to those organizations
that find themselves with a similar need."

"Governors State University School of Extended Learning provided the
most relevant First Aid/CPR safety
training program I've ever attended. Geoff’s extensive knowledge and highly
engaging style makes him a very effective trainer that my team thoroughly
enjoyed. He was able to accommodate varying levels of knowledge on the
subject and ensured everyone was capturing the pertinent information. I
now have ten people trained across our two shift operation and I feel confident we
would swiftly and appropriately handle any unfortunate event if it was to
happen at our facility. Many thanks!"

"The (CAPM®) course opened my
eyes to this career field. I was not aware of the demand for project
managers. At first I didn’t know what I was in for, but it ended up being
a great learning experience. I learned about all the integral steps involved in
being a project manager. It’s an exciting field."
